The Windows Installer Service Cannot Update One or More Protected Windows Files

Sekedar sharing.

Baru saja ada pasien netbook punya Branch Manager. Dia minta diinstall MS Office 2007. Ah mudah, kan tinggal klik, klik, selesai. Di tengah instalasi, lho kok muncul error “The Windows Installer Service Cannot Update One or More Protected Windows Files”.

Kupikir-pikir kenapa ya? Biasanya nggak ada masalah. Kucoba bikin user baru, mungkin user lama ada yang error. Tetap saja installernya ngambek.

Setelah nyoba googling, ternyata simple banget.
1. Buka installer Windows XP, cari file FP40EXT.CAB di folder i386
2. Buka/extract file tersebut menggunakan 7zip, Winrar atau software kompresi lainnya
3. Cari file fp4Autl.dll di dalam file cabinet tersebut, kalau diextract cari di folder hasil extract
4. Copykan fp4Autl.dll ke C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\bin
5. Ulangi instalasi Office 2007
6. Selesai

Terima kasih atas ilmunya.

Saya selalu dapat problem seperti ini kalo menginstall Windows XP menggunakan usb flashdisk.
Memangnya, kalau bikin usb bootable, ada file Windows yang tidak ter-build juga, ya?
